Amin Bhatia and Ari Posner Nominated Again for X Company

The Academy of Cinema and Television, has announced their 2017 Canadian Screen Award finalists and Amin Bhatia and Ari Posner are nominated again for Best Original Music Score, this time for Season Two of X Company. It was one of six nominations this year for the the CBC/Temple Street TV series.

The show was created by Flashpoint's Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern and takes place during World War II, following five recruits trained as secret agents at a Canadian training facility and then sent out into the field. The nominated episode Black Flag is a fan favourite: team members, defying orders, set a plan in motion to assassinate a high-ranking German general during a night at the Opera. This episode created many musical challenges for Bhatia and Posner, ranging from ritzy jazz themes and remixes, operatic rearrangements of Gabriel Fauré, ambient terror, orchestral action, and pure tragedy with a Nazi reprisal attack on innocent citizens.

Amin and Ari thoroughly enjoy working with Mark and Stephanie as well as the Temple Street Production team Kerry Appleyard, and Lesley Grant, the amazing crew at Technicolor, music supervisor Andrea Higgins at Arpix Media, music editor Joe Mancuso, and Post Supervisor Richard Anobile, who all serve to bring the score to life.

It's been a busy time for the composers as between seasons they wrote the underscore for Blood and Fury: America's Civil War on the AHC/Discovery Network, while each composer also scored an independent feature film for release later this year. They are now hard at work on the final episodes of X Company Season Three, the final season, which has just started airing and is a long awaited culmination of many story arcs and musical themes.

The 2017 CSA ceremonies will be broadcasted nationally on CBC television in March of 2017.  The other nominees for X Company are listed below. For a complete list of nominees and more information visit the Academy of Cinema and Television website.
