The Showtime mini-series Fellow Travelers is based on the 2007 fictional novel of the same name by Thomas Mallon. Following the paths and challenges of two young political men, who meet during radical McCarthyism at the height of the 1950s Lavender Scare of the 1950s.

Despite the genuine danger of getting caught, their love for each other grows over many decades, spanning the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the drug-fueled disco era, and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s. Starring Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey.
